Sally Lee – Sally is the owner and manager of Kingfisher.
In her own words…..
Hello, my name is Sally Lee. I have 3 children of my own ranging from 19 – 29 and am married. At present I own and manage Kingfisher Nursery & Kids Club, I am also a Registered Childminder. I have been working with children for 28 years mainly as a childminder but then took over Kingfisher 12 years ago. My current role includes caring for a range of children from 1 – 12 years of age, I work alongside parents, delivering their requests and needs to their children, and I have a team of 9 staff and work alongside many other professionals. I am Chair of the local North Walsham Childminding Group. My role here involves supporting and working alongside other childminders, organizing meetings, trips and activities for the children and liaising with other professionals to confirm any new standards or legislation and ask for further support or advice. I like to think that I work to a very high standard and have received 3 “OUTSTANDING” Ofsted grading’s in the last 12 years. I left school with no qualifications and have worked my way through several training courses, including Open College Network Certificate in Early Years Care and Education, City & Guilds 730 Further & Adult Education Certificate Stage 1, NVQ Level 3 in Child care and Education, D32/33 Assessors Award, City & Guilds 730 Further & Adult Education Certificate Stage 2 Level 3 In Play work for Early Years & Childcare Workers, NVQ Level 4 in Children’s Care Learning & Development and have also completed my Foundation Degree in Early Years Care and Education in 2015.
Elaine – I am an Early Years Professional with a Masters in Education, I am also a qualified NVQ assessor and have my Education and Training qualification. I am Kingfishers Setting SENCO, Safeguarding Lead and Health and Safety officer, I make sure the setting is running smoothly day to day.
I moved from Derby to Norfolk in February 2018, I have 5 dogs, 2 ponies, parents and oldest brother and his family. I love spending time with my family, pets and cooking is a huge passion of mine. I have 4 Nieces and Nephew ranging from New Born to 11 years old.
I have 7 years’ experience in a very busy nursery with 5 of those years being in a senior management role. I enjoy learning, I am always looking to improve my own knowledge and practice, I always looking to challenge myself and keep up to date with the latest legislation’s and guidelines. My current role allows me to work closely with parents, other professionals and practitioners to ensure the children are having the best quality education and care they can. I am passionate about Early Years and I want to give the children the best start they possible can, I believe that the Early Years are fundamental to children’s learning and development and we need to get it right.
All staff have had Safe Guarding training and First Aid training.
The Hatchlings – Baby Room
Amanda – My name is Amanda and I work in the Hatchlings Baby Room.
I joined Kingfisher in January 2015 and have worked in childcare for the past 13 years. I am currently studying for level 3 in Childcare.
Amanda took on the baby room in September 2017 and loves working with the little ones.
In my spare time I enjoy Keep Fit Classes
My favourite children’s book is Elmer
My favourite nursery rhymes are Insy Wincey Spider
My favourite activity with the children is cooking, making cakes and biscuits with the children.
Katie – My name is Katie and I work in the Hatchlings Baby Room.
I have been working at Kingfisher for two years.
I am currently working towards my level 3 in Childcare and I am already level 2 qualified.
In my spare time, I like to watching football.
My favourite children’s book is I’m going on a Bear Hunt
My favourite nursery rhymes are Baa, Baa Black, Wind the bobbin up and 5 little Speckled Frogs
My favourite activity with the children is messy play and doing puzzles.
Elaine – My name is Elaine. I am the Deputy Manager at Kingfisher and have been working here since February 2018
I am an Early Years Professional with a Master’s in Education. I have 6 years’ experience in a very busy nursery with 4 of those years being in a senior management role. I am passionate about Early Years and believe in giving the children the best start they possible can.
In my spare time I like to take my dogs for walks and look after my horse. I also enjoy spending time with my family, cooking and going to the beach.
My favourite children’s books are; Dr Seuss’s Green Eggs and Ham and Julia Donaldson’s Scarecrows wedding.
My favourite nursery rhymes are; Peter Rabbit and The Penguin song.
My favourite activities with children are; circle games/ songs and messy play.
The Chicks – Toddler Room
Danielle – Danielle is currently on Maternity Leave
My name is Danielle and I am the room leader in the little chick’s room.
I joined Kingfisher Kids Club in April 2018 after working for a private day nursery for 9 months and a community run pre-school for 6 years previous. I have a level 3 BTEC in Children’s Care, Learning and Development.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my husband James and my family. James and I are expecting our first baby in January 2019.
My favourite children’s book is The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson.
My favourite nursery rhymes are tiny turtle and peter rabbit.
My favourite activity with the children is messy play. I love shaving foam!
Chloe P – My name is Chloe and I work in the little chick’s room.
I joined Kingfisher kids club in November 2018 after moving to Norfolk from Hampshire. I hold a BA Hons Early Childhood Studies and prior to moving to Norfolk I worked in a 100-place setting.
In my spare time, I like to spend time with my husband and our families and I love going for muddy walks with our German Shepherd.
My favourite children’s book is The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.
My favourite nursery rhyme is wind the bobbin up.
My favourite activity with the children is making crafts.
Chloe H – My name is Chloe and I work in the little chick’s room.
I joined Kingfisher Kids Club in July 2015 straight from leaving school. I have completed my level 2 in childcare and I am currently doing my level 3 in childcare.
In my spare time, I like to spend time with my friends and go out for meals. I also like to go on holiday.
My favourite children’s book is Monkey Puzzle by Julia Donaldson.
My favourite nursery rhymes are tiny turtle, I am the music man and peter rabbit.
My favourite activity with the children is reading stories to them and playing with playdough.
Kate – My name is Kate and I work in the little chick’s and hatchlings room.
I have been a member of the Kingfisher team for several years. I have been a Childminder for 10 years and a Foster Carer for the past 2 years. I have a Level 3 in Childcare.
In my spare time I like to do Zumba and yoga. My favourite book is The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
My favourite activity with the children are old fashioned board games that teach turn-taking, counting and extending their vocabulary. I also love singing traditional rhymes and songs with the children. We practice our breathing to feel calm and healthy.
The Fledglings – Preschool Room
Laura – My name is Laura, I joined Kingfishers in February 2019 after moving to North Walsham. I have worked in childcare for over 5 years. Previous to Kingfishers I was in a deputy manager position. I hold a BA Hons childhood studies degree.
In my spare time I like to spend time with my family and friends and particularly enjoy beach walks with my dog Bear.
My favourite childrens book is We’re going on a bear hunt.
My favourite nursery rhyme is five little dinosaurs.
My favourite activities with the children are arts and crafts
Janice – My name is Janice. I have just joined fledglings in September 2018.
I have worked in childcare since 1980. I am level 3 qualified and have worked in a variety of different settings.
I have two grown up sons and in my spare time I like walking my dog Chaska.
My favourite book is little rabbit foo foo. My favourite nursery song is tiny turtle. I love play dough and reading stories.
Breakfast Club / After School Club
Sue – Sue is married with 2 grown up children. She has been working in the child care sector for 29 years, 19 of those in preschool. Sue joined Kingfisher in 2008 to run the breakfast & after school clubs. She sees it as a privilege to watch the children blossom into well rounded, confident young people and to help them through this part of their journey.
Kingfisher Nursery are very keen to support those who are training for their various certificates in ChildCare and as such we have a number of students who come in to Kingfisher to gain experience.
Emily – Emily is a Nursery Nurse with the NNEB qualification. With over 25 years of experience working with children of pre-school age through to Year 6 in various local educational establishments. Emily has worked as part of the Kingfisher team and is now bank staff.
